Strict deadlines apply depending on your visa type and location at the time of refusal. In many cases, you may only have a short period (often between 7 and 28 days) to lodge an appeal with the ART.
Tribunal processing times can vary significantly depending on complexity and workload, commonly ranging from several months to over a year.

As at 1 July 2026, the ART application fee for a reviewable migration decision is $3,727. A separate fee of $2,293 applies for protection-related decisions, generally payable only if the review is unsuccessful. A concessional fee of $100 applies in eligible circumstances.
