- have sufficient English proficiency for the training program
- have health insurance for the duration of their stay
- meet health and character requirements
- intend to undertake structured training in their nominated occupation
Sponsor & Nomination Requirements
Applicants must have an approved sponsor who is also an approved temporary activities sponsor as recognised by the Department of Home Affairs. Sponsors must:
- be an Australian organisation or government agency able to provide structured training
- lodge an approved nomination for the applicant with evidence of the training program
- ensure the training is structured, supervised, time-limited, and genuinely for training purposes, not regular employment
- demonstrate that the training is structured, supervised, and directly related to the applicant’s occupation or career development

Types of Eligible Training
Eligible training under the Subclass 407 visa may include:
- Training activity: A formal, structured, and supervised workplace-based program aligned with the purpose of the visa.
- At least 70% of the training must be workplace-based, with no more than 30% classroom training.
- Eligible training can include tertiary study or training linked to an overseas qualification.
- Occupational training can be for the purpose of improving skills or obtaining registration, membership, or a licence in Australia.
- Professional development in your nominated occupation
- Structured workplace-based training provided by an Australian host organisation

No. The Subclass 407 visa is temporary and primarily intended for skill development. It does not provide direct access to permanent residency, although experience gained may support future skilled visa applications.
