Team enhancements at Australian Migration Lawyers: Welcomes Cindy Zhao 趙青 as partner and promotions of Shereen El-Ali, Damian Dwyer and Simrat Roopra: addition of Olivia Harms.

We warmly welcome Cindy Zhao 趙青 as Partner. Formerly the long-standing Director and Principal of one of Queensland's leading migration law firms, Cindy's proven track record, including her involvement in cases in the High Court of Australia and the Federal Court of Australia, stands testament to her expertise. Having achieved a majority of successful outcomes appearing in Australia’s administrative review tribunal and fluent in Mandarin, Cindy will lead the firm's China practice and continue to serve clients nationally.

Shereen El-Ali, a migration law veteran with over a decade practising exclusively in migration law, celebrates her well-deserved promotion to Special Counsel. Shereen, having honed her skills under leading accredited immigration law specialists at several esteemed migration law practices, remains a key contributor to the firm's success.

Further strengthening our team, Damian Dwyer has been elevated to Associate. Damian, first admitted as an Australian Lawyer in 2009, boasts credentials including a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the Australian National University (ANU), a Graduate Diploma in Migration Law and Practice from the University of Technology Sydney and a Master of Applied Linguistics from the University of Melbourne. His diverse skills, accentuated by his previous experience with the British Council in China, add a unique dimension to our offerings.

The promotion of Simrat Roopra to Associate further enriches our capacity. With rigorous academic training, firstly at New York University (NYU) and later postgraduate law studies at the University of Melbourne where she graduated in the top 5% of her cohort, Simrat has also had international exposures spanning from Washington D.C. to London. At Australian Migration Lawyers, Simrat has gained experience acting for multi-national corporations, representing applicants before Australia’s administrative review tribunal and conducting litigation in court.

Olivia Harms joins the firm as an Australian Migration Lawyer. Olivia graduated with First Class Honours in her Bachelor of International Relations degree from the University of Adelaide, which she combined with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. A graduate of the Master of International Relations degree from the University of Melbourne, Olivia has experience appearing before Australia’s administrative review tribunal and a particular passion for illuminating the plight of climate refugees.
