8558 Visa Condition Calculator

Condition 8558 limits certain visa holders to no more than 12 months in Australia within any rolling 18-month period. Enter your travel dates to check where you currently stand, and how much time remains before you reach that limit.

Check My 8558 Status

8558 Visa Calculator

Track your stay in Australia against visa condition 8558 — the "must not remain in Australia for more than 12 months in any 18-month period" rule commonly attached to multiple-entry visitor visas (including many Subclass 600 grants). This is a planning estimate only, not a substitute for VEVO or advice from a registered migration agent. Type dates as DD/MM/YYYY or use the calendar icon — both stay in sync.

Check date

The date you want to check your position as at. Defaults to today.

Enter a valid date as DD/MM/YYYY.

Your trips to Australia

Add every entry and exit. Leave the departure date blank if you're still in Australia on that trip. Both the arrival day and the departure day count as days in Australia.

No trips added yet.

Add your trips on the left, then select "Calculate My Stay" to see your result here.

Whether condition 8558 (or a related condition) actually applies to your visa is set out in your grant letter and on VEVO — always confirm there. The window rolls with time; it isn't reset by leaving Australia and isn't tied to a calendar year.

FAQs

Is this calculator a guarantee of my remaining time under Condition 8558?

No. This calculator provides a general, indicative estimate only, based on the information provided, and does not constitute legal advice. Your actual position depends on your specific visa grant, your complete travel history, and the Department of Home Affairs' own movement records. Speak with one of our migration lawyers to confirm your position and plan your travel accordingly.

How do I know if my visa carries Condition 8558?

Condition 8558 is listed on your grant notice. It should also be checked directly through VEVO (Visa Entitlement Verification Online), since conditions can vary between grants even for the same visa subclass.

What happens if I exceed the 12-month limit?

Exceeding the limit does not automatically cancel your visa, but it does place you in breach of your visa condition. This can affect your ability to remain in Australia, your visa's future validity, and the outcome of subsequent visa applications. There is no standard, published waiver process for this condition, so compliance needs to be actively managed rather than corrected after the fact.

Does Condition 8558 limit how long I can stay on a single visit?

Not directly. Condition 8558 caps your cumulative time in Australia across the full 18-month window, rather than setting a fixed limit for each individual visit. The length of any single stay is instead governed by the conditions attached to that particular entry.

How does the rolling 18-month period work?

The 18-month period does not follow a fixed calendar cycle or reset on a set date. Instead, at any point in time, the total number of days you have spent in Australia is counted back across the preceding 18 months. This means your remaining allowance can change depending on when you calculate it, not just how much time has passed since your last entry.

What is Condition 8558?

Condition 8558 limits how long a visa holder can remain in Australia in total, restricting stays to no more than 12 months within any rolling 18-month period. It is commonly attached to long-validity, multiple-entry Visitor visas (Subclass 600), including those granted to parents of Australian citizens and permanent residents.
